My name is Jim Pike and I personally like to thank you for choosing to join Albert Einstein Academy on our Odyssey voyage! It is truly a great honor and responsibility to guide your scholar through the education process. The goal of this letter is to tell you a little about myself and give you a guild of what to expect as my class is not a traditional class.
I began my career teaching Kindergarten in Japan. Once I returned to the States, I obtained my teacher credential and began teaching third grade in South Central LA where I first utilized Minecraft in math. As a teacher, I instantly saw the blocks in the game as digital math manipulatives similar to the blocks often used in schools. I began writing math curriculum around this for my students, and noticed that test scores went from 18% to 85%. Please watch this video to see my story. For the past year I have been working in the field of curriculum design. I wrote STEAM curriculum for Scratch coding and Minecraft, and I am so excited to return to the classroom.
